During a 20-year career with the Army, Vincent Stoakley served everywhere from upstate New York to Japan and South Korea. But it was his service at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, that inadvertently prepared him to be a home inspector in Houston.
"I can spend a good 25 to 30 minutes inspecting an attic," said Stoakley, 44, "I walk around the perimeter of it, even in the summertime. The heat doesn't bother me because Afghanistan could get up to 115 degrees on the tarmac."
