David Lush is a dynamic leader and polished communicator who brings a vast wealth of franchise experience and auto service expertise to his current role as President and CEO of the Prime CarCare Group. Prime CarCare Group owns and operates the Speedy Auto Service, Novus Glass, Minute Muffler and Brake franchises across Canada and the newly launched 5 Gears Auto Care System.
Joining Speedy Corp in September 2009, David Lush took over a franchise system that had yet to recover from receivership in 2008. In January 2010 the company was renamed Prime CarCare Group and began rebuilding the Speedy brand. After gaining the trust of the franchise network, an advertising fund was established in 2010. Later in 2010, the company exited the corporate store business to focus on franchising. After replacing more than 40% of the existing franchisees, the system has stabilized and returned to profitability. In 2014 Prime CarCare Group acquired the Canadian rights to the Novus Glass system, and later in 2014, the 5 Gears Auto Care Program was launched. The first 5 Gears Auto Care location was opened in 2015 in Fredericton New Brunswick, followed by Mississauga, Halifax, and Winnipeg. 5 Gears Auto Care is Prime CarCare Group’s vision of the future of auto repair in Canada.
Prior to Prime CarCare, David held the position of COO for CARSTAR Automotive Canada where he was responsible for their success in greatly improving operations, expanding the business model, and improving the bottom line for both the franchisees and the corporation.
David obtained his Class “A” mechanic certification in 1982 and started his automotive management-related career in 1984 as a Manager for Goodyear Canada (Toronto). Subsequent to proving his abilities there, he was appointed as the Director of Auto Service for the Canadian Tire Corporation (1991-1995). Always up for a challenge, he then progressed into the marketing field by accepting the position of Vice-President, Marketing and Franchise Operations for Midas Canada, later being promoted to Vice-President, Marketing for Midas International Corporation (Chicago).
From 1999 to 2002 while with Young & Rubicam in Toronto, David was in charge of the Ford Motor Company account; dealing first with the development of a new retail concept for North America, he was then appointed to Sr. VP, Client Service Director for Ford, responsible for both Ford of Canada and Ford Dealers’ Advertising.
In addition to his technical and leadership skills, David spends a great deal of his time teaching and lecturing young professionals. This passion is the driving force behind lending his personal time to be a guest lecturer at a number of Colleges and Universities in Canada including Queens University, Concordia, McMaster, Centennial and Humber College.
